Article marketing is one of the most effective ways to market a product. Affiliate marketing with the use of articles is no exception to this rule. In fact, article marketing allows you to differentiate yourself from other affiliates who sell the same product or service.

Because article marketing is so effective, many affiliate program owners/managers provide their affiliates with articles to submit to the various article repositories on a regular basis. The affiliates, of course, replace the links within the articles with their own affiliate links for submission.

Article marketing accomplishes many different things. First, it can be used to establish yourself as an expert in the field that your topic relates to. Next, it can be used to drive traffic to your website, and third, it can be used to actually promote the affiliate marketing product in question.

However, one must be very careful when using articles to promote a product. The article must not be a sales letter disguised as an article. This won’t work. Instead, write the article about the topic at hand, such as a problem that the product will help, or a desire that the product will fulfill, and then recommend the affliate marketing product at the end of the article.

Another way to promote affiliate products within an article is to make the article a review type article, where you compare three or four different products or services. Of course, you will provide affiliate links for all of the products that you review, but you should be honest about how well each product or service addresses the problem or desire.

If you do not write, and the affiliate program does not provide articles for your use, you should consider hiring a ghost writer. Ghost writers are relatively inexpensive, and can turn out quality articles on a regular basis, which will include your affiliate links.

Finally, you should write or have articles written for you consistently. Ideally, you should have one article per week to submit to the article directories, and these articles should also be sent to related e-zines that accept submissions as well.

It is true that as an affiliate marketer, you are not required to have your own website or domain name. You can choose, instead, to market the products and services using your affiliate links and/or replicated affiliate websites. However, you will find as you delve deeper into the world of affiliate marketing that having your own website and/or blog is essential to your success.

With your own website, you can use your own domain name to promote the products and services, instead of affiliate links. People tend to avoid affiliate links when they see them in ezines and on forums. But they don’t seem to have an aversion to visiting a person’s website or blog.

When you promote affiliate products and services using affiliate links, you can only promote one product or service at a time. This means that in order to make the income you want or need to make, you will be spending all of your time marketing – every free minute you have will be marketing.

However, if you have a website, you can promote the website, and not the products. First, people like free information. Fill your site up with that, and along with the content, throw in banners and links to the related affiliate products and services. It is much easier to promote one website or blog than it is to promote ten or twenty affiliate products or services.

Having your own website and domain, for each niche that you are doing affiliate marketing in, makes you appear more professional, and helps to establish you as an expert. It also gives you the ability to write your own sales copy so that you don’t have to depend on the sales copy provided by the affiliate manager or merchant.

This, in turn, gives you the ability beat your competition – those affiliates who are selling the same products and services that you are selling. You can present the material and the product or service in a way that they can’t unless they have their own website or blog. Affiliate marketing success requires integrity. Have you seen Internet marketers that don’t appear to have a conscience? You most likely have. How would you feel about yourself if other people viewed you that way? It certainly wouldn’t be anything to be proud of, and it is something that you want to avoid.

A conscientious affiliate marketer does not market affiliate products or services that essentially rip the customer off. They make sure that what they are promoting is of the highest quality, and that the company serves the customers well.

Conscientious affiliate marketers are honest and fair in all of their marketing and copywriting. They do not lead customers or potential customers to believe something that isn’t true. They do not use hype to market products. They use the facts and the true benefits of a product or service to sell it.

If you are a conscientious affiliate marketer, you will always be fair in your business dealings with others, such as joint venture agreements. You will not attempt to cheat anyone out of anything at any time. You will also be fair when dealing with affiliate managers. You want what is due to you, but you should return any overpayments that are sent to you immediately.

A conscientious affiliate marketer does not steal other people’s affiliate links. You don’t want anyone to replace your links with their own, so you shouldn’t do this to any other hard working affiliate either.

A conscientious marketer does not spam people – for any reason. They follow the rules that are set forth in the affiliate agreements and adhere to the terms and conditions for affiliates for each product or service that they sell.

Nobody ever really gets ahead by being dishonest. It may appear that they do, but that falsified success is very short lived. If you want to be successful for the long term, you must have a conscience and put your customers and their needs ahead of your needs or the company’s needs.
