Do You Know How The Changes At EzineArticles Make You A Better Affiliate Marketer?

As a recognized super-affiliate and affiliate marketing mentor & speaker, it’s only natural that I use article marketing, including posting my articles at EzineArticles.com, as part of my affiliate marketing promotional mix. Natural because article marketing works, provides residual traffic for years, and because EzineArticles is the biggest & highest ranked article directory online.

Let me say right up front that if you’re looking to be lazy – using PLR articles, spun articles or those written by authors with poor spelling or bad grammar, forget it! EzineArticles have top-notch editors and systems that will boot you out faster than you can say ‘adios’! If you ARE looking to be a lazy affiliate, go get an offline job – the days of lazy marketers making a killing online ended a few years back (after declining since the 1990’s).

The EzineArticles Changes Affecting Affiliate Marketing

Two of the changes made this year at EzineArticles affect affiliates, and in fact all online marketers. First, the articles you submit must be at least 400 words now. This shouldn’t be a big deal, since we marketers tend to be overly verbose anyway! 😉 If you can’t write intelligently about a product, service or topic using AT LEAST 400 words with no fluff or keyword stuffing then you don’t know your topic well enough to consider promoting it – go back and study the issue more before trying to use it in your affiliate marketing mix.

The second change is the big one – you can’t use your affiliate links in your Author’s Resource Box now. This won’t affect super-affiliates as we’d never put our direct affiliate link out there like that anywway. And this is what YOU need to change in how you’re doing your online marketing if you’ve even THOUGHT about putting your naked affiliate link online anywhere…

Affiliate Marketing Pre-Selling On Your Blogs

For years now, brilliant marketer Ken Evoy has been teaching members and affiliates at his SiteSell operation about pre-selling… The concept is simple – you attract the prospect to your own site where you ‘warm them up’ and get them into a buying mood before sending them through to your affiliate link.

Why is pre-selling so important? First, someone coming from your articles or social media marketing efforts are in ‘reading mode’ – not ‘buying mode’. Secondly, many salespages are 2nd rate at best, with most not even that good. Pre-selling gives you the opportunity to up your conversion rates by helping to overcome this downfall. But most importantly, this system means you’re developing backlinks to YOUR sites or blogs and the traffic is flowing to YOU first – then hopefully on to wherever you’re trying to direct it. Better SEO rankings from the backlinks are a big plus to everything you do from today forward, and if a prospect isn’t overly interested in the product or service you’re promoting they may just find something that DOES interest you in the sidebar or basebar links.

Higher search engine rankings, more traffic, higher conversions, residual sales, better branding & bigger commissions – any of these align with your affiliate marketing goals? Guess maybe Ken was on to something, eh? LOL (There’s a LOT more to SiteSell – for site owners AND affiliates – but this one piece of advice by itself is worth more than he charges… )

So now you can see that the changes at EzineArticles.com really are in the best interest of their reading audience AND you as an affiliate marketer because they’re helping to motivate you to professionalize your online activities and take your affiliate marketing to the next level!

Clickbank Pirate just launched a little over 24 hours ago – but response has been so phenomenal they realize how badly they underpriced it – and are planning to fix that PRONTO! Right now you can join Clickbank Pirate and lock in at their launch rates: $47 for the first month and then $27 a month thereafter. But that changes tomorrow morning, August 6th at 6am Eastern. Here’s the note they just posted in our JV area:

Clickbank Pirate ends launch discount, plans 40% price increase tomorrow

Both the inital payment and the monthly rates are going up by almost 40%, to $67 initially and $37 a month thereafter.

I’m of two minds about this – first, I like my readers being able to get into these sites and get the resources for the lowest price possible, but second I want to see the resource owners making enough that it’s worth their while to keep the site updated with fresh content regularly. And I have to admit, this resource is powerful enough, to me, to be worth the membership if I had to pay $97 or even $197 a month for it – after all, it doesn’t take many Clickbank affiliate sales to cover that off each month, and that doesn’t even include what I’ll make on the CB Pirate affiliate program itself!

Think I’m kidding? Look at the math…

Pick a product from those Clickbank Pirate affiliate sales funnels they provide you with that sells for $37 a month or more and pays 50% commissions or better, earning you at least $18.50 a sale. If your combined affiliate marketing efforts just get you an average of 1 sale per day, that’s 30 sales in that month, or $555. Your first YEAR’S payments are $67 for the first month, and 11 payments of $37 – a total of $474. So as long as in ANY ONE MONTH during that first year just ONE of their funnels brings you a sale a day, that one product, in one month, has covered your annual CB Pirate investment!

And that’s with just one of the funnels – they start you off with 6 and add from there. And those calculations are based on joining after the price hike tomorrow – if you get in at the launch rate, it takes even less to break even! Now obviously I can’t say you will make that, or anything – only YOU know what you’re capable of right now, how much effort you intend to put in and how much you intend to learn about professional affiliate marketing over the next year.
My point here is that as little as 3 sales of any one product per month can keep you in the black on this one!

For affiliates, of course, this can also be good news – as the price rises, so do your Clickbank Pirate affiliate commissions paid out to you through Clickbank itself. Get regular sales going every month their and you’ve got an affiliate commissions payment coming every two weeks, paid through the most trusted name in affiliate marketing: Clickbank!

The good news for you is that every Clickbank Pirate member is automatically enrolled in their affiliate program, and full resources are provided to help you make money on that end of this site as well – after all, the more you make referring new members the more they make too, so it’s in their best interest to help you sell more memberships every month.

So, lets cut to the chase here… Do I honestly think the Clickbank Pirate site is worth joining and worth promoting as an affiliate? No matter what I say people burned by others won’t accept it, so lit’s pretend you’re from Missouri and show you… Here’s how much time and effort I feel it’s worth ME putting into promoting Clickbank Pirate as an affiliate:

1) The links in this post are, of course, affiliate links.

2) Other blog posts I’ve done promoting Clickbank Pirate:

4 other blog posts and 3 videos on thisaffiliate marketing blog.
3 blog posts on my Internet marketing blog.
2 blog posts on my Clickbank Marketing blog.
2 blog posts on my Marketing BlogZine.
1 blog post on my Advanced Twitter Marketing blog.

3) Promotional videos created and uploaded to Simple-Clickbank-Profits.com, YouTube, Bebo and Motion Box.

4) New report entitled ‘Clickbank For Newbies‘ published and being given away for free; both the squeeze page followup pages and the report itself have ads for ClickBank Pirate prominently included.

5) Various tweets about Clickbank Pirate on both my @SuperAffil and @CaptnAffiliate accounts.

You see, unlike a lot of the ‘experts’ today, I walk the walk before I talk the talk. So far I’ve invested the time to do 13 blog posts, create 3 videos and upload them to a total of 5 different sites, published a new report and built the squeeze and follow-up pages, tweeted the links and e-mailed our opt-in lists a few times. And the site is only 32 hours old so far… longer-term strategies like article marketing will be brought into play next.

Mind you, this also shows why I say the amount of effort you put in plays a huge role in what you make from affiliate marketing – if you do any less than what I’ve shown there, don’t expect to get anywhere near the same results I do – and keep in mind that I’ve been in marketing & advertising for about 30 years now, offline and now online for the past 12 years.

But I’m not asking for your faith based on my extensive credentials, but based on actually seeing me DO exactly what I always suggest to you. Anytime you wonder whether an affiliate marketer is giving you the straight goods or just looking to make a buck off you, look around to see if THEY are doing what they suggest YOU do. The Captain may not reveal EVERY trick or tactic he uses outside of his high-end mentoring, but for every suggestion I DO make on how to promote affiliate opportunities it’s always easy for find examples of me doing them too!

So when I say you should be promoting Clickbank Pirate and the affiliate funnels you get with your membership, know that I’m right there in the trenches with you, both guiding your efforts and putting in the grunt time myself! 🙂

Affiliate Marketing Strategy: Choosing The Right Traffic Tools

©2009 Doug Champigny. All Rights Reserved.

Affiliate marketing is one of the fastest ways to make money online, and the usual starting point for most work-at-home online businesses. Since the product, web site, sales copy and often even sample e-mails are already created by the merchant, affiliate marketing success simply involves sending enough targeted traffic through your affiliate link to the merchant’s site.

There are paid options to drive targeted traffic, such as the Pay-Per-Click ads you see in the major search engines, ads on web sites and blogs, and solo ads and sponsor ads in e-zines in the niche. But most people starting out with any work-at-home business need to conserve what little investment capital they have, and as such should focus on the myriad of free methods of generating targeted traffic.

The first concern is to decide which traffic tools are right for each affiliate promotion you’re doing. Look over the salespage and decide whether this product or service is short-lived, like a 7-day sale, or liable to be around a long time, like say a dog training guide. Is it a one-time sale, or can you earn recurring commissions as when promoting a monthly membership site or ongoing service?

If it’s short term, focus on the fast traffic generators like Twitter, your e-zine, your blog and social bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon or Digg. You want targeted traffic that hits almost instantly, and don’t need to waste time using long-term traffic methods.

If it’s going to be around a while, start by using those same short-term methods to get sales started quickly, then hop over and do some articles, a Squidoo lens and a Google Knol. That gets you the quick traffic from the former, and then keeps some residual targeted traffic going to the page from the latter. If the conversions are good, keep up the short-term til results start to taper off, all the while adding to your long-term efforts. If results aren’t great, let your long-term efforts to date suffice and move on to the next product.

If you’re promoting an affiliate marketing opportunity that pays residual commissions, pull out all stops. Do all of the above, plus record & submit some podcasts, videos and press releases, do either a recorded interview with the site owner or a live teleseminar, use the recording in giveaways, do a few e-zine swaps and maybe even create some viral e-books on the topic to help promote your affiliate links.

In short, there are a lot of ways to drive targeted traffic to your affiliate marketing links for free – just be sure to use the right tools to match the potential returns, start off slow and if you see your affiliate commissions mounting, turn on the afterburners and maximize your return before moving on to your next affiliate marketing opportunity.

If you want to find true success in affiliate marketing, you must learn and practice the art of pre-selling. Pre-selling essentially means that by the time your prospect clicks on your affiliate link, they have their credit card in hand, ready to make a purchase. In affiliate marketing, this means that they must be ready to make a purchase before they even see the affiliate sales page that is provided by the company that owns the product.

Pre-selling can be done in a variety of ways, but the majority of pre-selling is done from the affiliates own website. While you will most likely have affiliate banners on your site, linked to the affiliate sales page for the product, this alone won’t pre-sell your visitors. You need content to pre-sell!

You need good, reliable information that not only relates well to the product or service being sold, but also relates to your potential customers problem or desire. The content should lead to a sales page for the product or service you want to sell. This sales page should be one of your own making, where you can let potential customers know the real value of the product or service, from your personal standpoint.

You might also offer additional free information, such as free ebooks or reports, which will include your affiliate link. Teleseminars are also a great way to pre-sell a product or service. Selling products and services takes work. Never doubt that for one second, no matter what anyone else might tell you.

When you find a product or service that you want to market, make a sales plan for it. You will need articles, content for your site, ads, sales letters, and give-a-ways. Start producing or gathering these things, and plan how you are going to pre-sell the product or service.

You have to be willing to get out there and convince your affiliate marketing prospects to buy the product or service, by pre-selling them. Make a pre-sell plan and put it into operation. You will be pleasantly surprised at the positive results you achieve, when you compare it to the results you were getting with your affiliate marketing promotions before you started trying to pre-sell products or services.
