Advanced Affiliate Marketing – Extend Your Article Marketing Efforts Through Podcasting

One of the secrets to advanced affiliate marketing is to find ways to multiply your marketing reach without having to multiply the effort and time you put into your marketing strategies. For example, if you can invest 20% more time to reap 50% or 75% more sales, you’ve multiplied your efforts while saving time and are headed toward bigger advanced affiliate marketing commissions.

A perfect example of this is the relationship between your article marketing and your podcasting. Since both your targeted readers and your targeted listeners are both interested in the same niche, it stands to reason that both would enjoy access to the same content. And with independent directories for either type of media, chances are high that each attracts an audience of affiliate marketing needs not reachable by the other format.

Here’s how it’s done, and why it works so well to boost your affiliate sales. You’ve done your keyword research, chosen your topics for your articles and written 5 or 10 articles to start. Handle them exactly as you always would, submitting them to the top 1-3 directories you want your articles to appear on. Then put on your headset or pull out your microphone and record a version of each article as an MP3 file, being sure to include an audio version of your Author’s Resource Box at the end with any URLs spelled out for people to copy down or type in.

When you’re happy with the recording, post it to your blog along with the summary you had written for the article or a similar paragraph or two of teaser copy designed to get your visitors to click the player and hear the article. Then, just as you did with the original article, submit your podcasts to the various podcast directories.

And that’s all it takes for this advanced affiliate marketing strategy. Because all the original research and content had been done to create the articles, all that needed to be done to create podcasts was top read the article and record it as an MP3 file. Thus, with very little extra work you’ve potentially doubled both your reach within your target market and the number of affiliate marketing leads you derive from it.

If you wish, multiply your effect once more by taking this advanced affiliate marketing strategy one step further. Now that you have both the article and the audio, import the audio into your video editing software as the soundtrack and match up the text from the article to it along the timeline. Render it with or without a custom background and you now have a video version of the article as well, one you can now use to target additional affiliate marketing leads, this time through the video sharing sites.

Advanced Affiliate Marketing – Using Social Media For Affiliate Marketing

©2010 Doug Champigny, http://captain-affiliate.com
All Rights Reserved Worldwide.

Advanced affiliate marketing requires both a good knowledge of marketing and a constant eye on the trends online. Unless you’re aware of the online trends you’ll always end up as a ‘me-too’ marketer that catches on to new avenues only once you see other marketers already succeeding in that arena.

Perhaps the best example of that to date is the emergence of the social media sites, web 2.0 sites and the other various social marketing platforms that have risen to prominence in the last couple of years. Many Internet marketers and affiliate marketers either ignored social media for too long, or jumped in early, couldn’t figure out how to monetize their activities there and so abandoned their social networking activities.

Prime examples here are Twitter and FaceBook, two of the most popular web 2.0 properties. Twitter is a micro-blogging platform limited to 140 character posts, while FaceBook is a true online networking community where users connect, comment on each others’ posts, display videos and photos, play games and socialize with their ‘friends’ – other users they’ve decided to follow there. FaceBook alone has over 400 MILLION users, and any marketing pro can tell you that a demographic of that size represents a valuable target market in dozens, if not hundreds of niches. So the issue is not does a market exist on these sites, but how do you utilize the social media in your affiliate marketing mix?

Look to see who the people are that use each site… What age group, what income group, what segment of the general population? Most people will be surprised to learn that most of these sites attract better educated, older and upwardly mobile users rather than the ‘kids’ they believe are the majority on social networking sites. FaceBook stats recently released show 80% of those playing the games there are women in the 30’s & 40’s – a far cry from the stereotypical online gamer.

So once you’ve established that various social media sites are worth targeting, it becomes your task to determine how to do that effectively. Understand that social networking and social media are named that for a reason – while using the sites your prospects aren’t shopping, they’re being social. Attempts to use hard-sell tactics directly on these sites will at best result in mediocre results, and at worst either get you ignored or banned altogether depending on the sites.

Profiting with your affiliate marketing using the social media sites is a 2-step process. First, you write informational, solid-content posts on your affiliate marketing blogs on topic you feel will attract your targeted prospects from these sites, or build great reports on those topics and make them available free from your squeeze pages. You then let them know that this information is available to them for free, and provide the link so that those who are interested can get to your sites. Once they are on your blog or your opt-in list they can now be regarded as any other visitor or opt-in – if your information is helpful and well presented they’ll hang around, otherwise they’ll be gone in one click of their mouse.

Do the same with the articles you submit to the directories, with your Squidoo lenses, with your WetPaint sites, Hub Pages, etc. You can set your Twitter stream to show up automatically on social networking sites like LinkedIn, FaceBook and Google Buzz, so that tweeting your links to your articles and pages has those links show up all over your social media accounts as well – and plugins exist to automatically tweet each blog post you do too.

Additionally, don’t forget that video directories like YouTube and Viddler, web 2.0 sites like Twitter, article directories like EzineArticles and a raft of other social media sites produce RSS feeds of your content as well – embed these on social media sites that allow feeds and remember to submit those feeds to the various RSS directories too. In each case, you’re multiplying the effects of your affiliate marketing efforts with very little additional work, and the results continue as long as you’re producing new content for your feeds.

But go into it realizing one thing about social media marketing and social networking – if all you’re doing is putting your links out there in front of people on a regular basis, you’ll see some results and be building backlinks for the search engines to find, but many people will ignore most of what you post since they don’t ‘know’ you. To maximize your results from social marketing, be sure to interact from time to time with those you meet there, and put a reasonable amount of effort into building your following on each site. In other words, to maximize your affiliate marketing success with social media and social networking, socialize and network!

Why Advanced Affiliate Marketing Pros Love Cookies

©2010 Doug Champigny, http://captain-affiliate.com
All Rights Reserved Worldwide.

It can be said without fear of contradiction that advanced affiliate marketing pros love cookies – and we’re not speaking here of chocolate chip cookies, although those are almost as universally loved. No, these cookies are small files affiliate marketing software places on the computers of each prospect who clicks through to a marketer’s web site using an affiliate’s link.

The purpose of these affiliate marketing cookies is to track which affiliate referred each prospect so that the correct affiliate can be credited when any sale is made. That’s how merchants know how much affiliate marketing commission to pay each active affiliate each month.

But just as in the bakery world, in affiliate marketing not all cookies are created equally – or at least their effect can and does vary widely. For example, most of the big affiliate directories use tracking cookies that only track for that one product. If you, as the affiliate, refer a person to the salespage and that prospect buys the product, you get your commission. But from that point on the marketer now directly contacts the buyer and you’re out of the loop on any further purchases that buyer makes.

Some of the more advanced private affiliate systems, however, place affiliate marketing cookies that stay valid for weeks, months or years and apply to all of that merchant’s products. As such, once an advanced affiliate marketing pro has referred an affiliate marketing lead to the site, any and all future sales are also credited to that affiliate’s account, leaving room for them to make money online on products they’ve never promoted or aren’t even aware of yet.

Smart advanced affiliate marketing pros watch for these programs and promote the sites using them more often – after all, why run a heavy affiliate marketing promotion to make commissions on one product when you can make that initial sale and then have the merchant refer other sales through those same affiliate marketing leads for you? As long as those affiliate cookies make advanced affiliate marketing pros more money with no extra effort, you know they’ll keep on loving those affiliate cookies!

Maximizing Your Residual Affiliate Marketing Commissions

©2010 Doug Champigny, http://captain-affiliate.com
All Rights Reserved Worldwide.

Eventually every successful affiliate marketer realizes that promoting affiliate offers that pay residual commissions is a great way to boost your affiliate commissions – web hosting, autoresponders, membership sites and the like can pay out month after month from one original sale. In fact, any affiliate sale that leads to the buyer paying monthly fees should lead to residual affiliate commissions unless they’re set up on a cost-per-acquisition-based front-end-loaded commission structure.

Residual affiliate commissions are the best way for an affiliate to build their income long-term, since each month you’ve got residuals commissions coming in on top of the commissions you’ve made that month. Until you reach the advanced affiliate marketing strategies, though, most affiliates don’t make as much as they should from such offers.

To listen to an Audio Version of this affiliate marketing article, click this arrow:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The reason is simple – they treat their residual affiliate commissions offers the same way they do the more common one-off sale offers. They promote it two or three times to their list, blog about it and then move on to the next offer, and this myopic view of how to promote residual commissions offers means they’re leaving a lot of potential profits still lying on the table waiting for a more advanced affiliate marketer to pick them up.

These offers usually pay the most for your time invested, since you usually continue to make affiliate commissions for months, even years, after you promote them. As such, these are the offers you should be spending more time on than most. Sending it to your list and blogging about it should be just the start of your advanced affiliate marketing mix for residual commissions offers – after all, the effect of the e-zine promos only lasts a few days at best, and your blog probably only reaches less than 1% of your potential target market.

Residual affiliate commissions can be maximized by using every long-term traffic building technique you know, from article marketing and social bookmarking to podcasting, video marketing, forum marketing, etc. It’s also a good time to considering using pay per click (PPC) advertising, since the lifetime value of each sale is higher than most single sales opportunities. Just be sure you calculate the average duration that each sale is sticking with the service or site so that you don’t over-bid on your PPC – it’s easy to lose money on a pay per click campaign if you don’t know what you’re doing and track your results closely.

But by using all of your advanced affiliate marketing arsenal, you can build up a strong funnel to continue leading targeted prospects to the site long after you’ve moved on to other promotions, leaving your long-term systems in place to keep you earning residual affiliate marketing commissions for some time to come!

Advanced Affiliate Marketing – How To Maximize Your Affiliate Marketing Profits Easily And Quickly!

©2010 Doug Champigny, http://captain-affiliate.com

Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways of making money online, and as you progress to advanced affiliate marketing strategies your affiliate commissions can become quite substantial. Yet even advanced affiliate marketers often miss this one critical step and end up making less than they could be – a simple step that could easily and quickly maximize your results for your affiliate marketing business…

Most affiliates, like most salespeople, just want to sell – they don’t want to get involved in anything mundane or boring as part of their online activities. But super-affiliates never lose site of the fact that they’re business is affiliate marketing, not affiliate selling. And that distinction, being marketers instead of salespeople, means that they’ll take a more scientific approach and more of a long-term view of their online business. Instead of just focusing on what can make the most affiliate sales today, they ask themselves how they can make more affiliate commissions every day – starting today. And then most finally realize that what’s missing is tracking.

If you’re an advanced affiliate marketer, or in fact advanced in any area of online marketing, you’ll already be using a wide variety of methods and techniques to drive targeted traffic to your squeeze pages and your blogs. You may be article marketing, podcasting, video marketing, search engine marketing, using pay-per-click, purchasing solo ads, buying banner and text links, social networking, social media marketing, doing ad swaps and e-zine swaps, participating in giveaways and joint ventures, doing forum marketing – the list goes on and on.

Obviously whatever affiliate marketing strategies you’re using is bringing you success, since you’ve reached the advanced levels. But as in any mix, some promotional techniques will be working better than the others you’re using. Remember the old business maxim that ‘80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts’? That is usually true online too – but if you’re not tracking your results you don’t know which strategies are superior, you just know the overall marketing mix works ok for your business. But is ok good enough for you or do you want to excel, to be one of the super-affiliates that bring down the biggest affiliate commissions?

The beauty of this is the simplicity – when you track your actions and results of each type of promotion, you quickly get a picture of what is driving the most targeted traffic for you. Or you might track which type of promotion brings the highest conversion to affiliate sales, or which promotions provide the affiliate marketing leads that spend the most, that give you the highest lifetime value per customer. Knowing the answer to any of these is pure gold for you in advanced affiliate marketing, because once you identify the promotional avenues that create the best results, you simply do more of those and less of the activities that aren’t producing as well for you.

And while that sounds like very simplistic advice, realize that marketers and salespeople alike are usually possessed of strong egos, convinced that they know exactly what’s working and what isn’t. Yet they’ll go on just as they have been if results are acceptable. But for those who want to maximize their affiliate marketing commissions, they’ll want the exact numbers – the proof of exactly what each promotion, and each method of promotion, is doing for them. And they’ll always be dropping those that perform least well and replacing them with what has been proven to work better. And they’ll have a yardstick by which to measure any new promotional techniques they try in future.

Advanced affiliate marketing involves using a lot of strategies and techniques not utilized by average affiliates – but then if you’re looking to make super-affiliate levels of commissions, you already know you have to work harder and smarter than the bulk of those who start affiliate marketing businesses online.

And one of those advanced affiliate marketing strategies seldom seen in average efforts is joint ventures. While the big joint venture launches and joint venture sites are common throughout the Internet marketing and niche marketing worlds, most affiliates have never caught on to using them in their marketing mix.

So just how do you, as an affiliate, use joint ventures when you don’t own the product or site? Let’s look at a prime example: You’re involved in a week-long affiliate contest for a big launch and naturally you want to come out on top – or at least make as many affiliate sales as you can. You’ve blogged about it, podcasted about it, submitted a couple of videos and done your social bookmarking and social networking efforts to support it. And, most importantly, you’ve e-mailed your opt-in list about it the first 3 days of that week and have two more followups planned for the last 2 days of the contest. Pretty standard routine for your advanced affiliate marketing pushes, right?

But what about those other two days – the two days you haven’t planned to mail it out to your list? You know they’d get tired and your opt-outs would skyrocket if you sent them that same offer 7 days straight, so how can you use your list on those two remaining days to boost your sales even higher?

This is where you set up a joint venture with another marketer or affiliate. In your marketing network you’ll know a variety of other marketers and affiliates who aren’t involved in the promotion you’re currently promoting. Contact them and find one or two with lists similar in size to your own who are willing to swap e-mails with you those two days.

Then you either send out each of those two days for the other partner’s offer while they do the same for you, or you line up two partners and send once for each of them, with them each sending one day for you. Either way, you’ve used your mailings those two days to get more promos out with your affiliate links, this time to prospects who most likely aren’t even on your list, giving you access to virgin territory for this offer. Not only can this result in more affiliate sales for you, but might even bring in higher results than if you had been able to resend to your own lists those 2 days.

Now that you have the concept, use your imagination and business acumen to refine and improve the idea too. For example, if the contest means a lot to you for the potential commissions or the branding from being atop the leaderboard, start your strategy the week before – use joint ventures to send out 3 or 4 days that week for other affiliates or marketers who can then send for you the following week while the contest is on. That way you’ve got your 7 mailings that week PLUS 3 or 4 additional mailings from those e-zine swap partners.

Not hard to see how you could extend it yet another week and really hit the leaderboard with a big splash, is it? So don’t forget to use joint ventures as part of your advanced affiliate marketing strategies whenever you have an affiliate opportunity you really want to dominate!

Advanced Affiliate Marketing – 7 Ways To Increase Affiliate Marketing Commissions

©2010 Doug Champigny, http://captain-affiliate.com. All Rights Reserved Worldwide.

One thing every affiliate marketing business owner wants to do is find ways to make more money online, yet the truth is that most have overlooked one or more of the most common ways, or have simply stopped using some of the basic promotional techniques that made them successful in affiliate marketing to begin with. So even though you’ve reached a successful advanced affiliate marketing plateau, make sure you’ve neither missed nor forgotten these 7 affiliate marketing tips.

1) Always be building your opt-in lists. Building an opt-in list is usually the most profitable affiliate marketing strategy in terms of both making money online and the highest earnings for time invested. Affiliate marketing newbies often wait too long before building an opt-in list, and affiliate marketing pros often let it slide to lesser prominence in their marketing mix. Either is a major mistake – start building an opt-in list from day one, and never let it slip to secondary priority.

2) Use affiliate marketing blogs as your home base online, and drive as much targeted traffic as you can to your blogs and squeeze pages. Use your opt-in list to drive your affiliate marketing leads to affiliate offers, but use all of your other traffic-generation strategies to get people to your blogs and get them onto your list – turning that targeted traffic into affiliate marketing leads on your opt-in list is the way to build your business most securely.

3) Stay tightly focused on your niche. Yes, you will see great offers on products and services in other niches, but don’t confuse your readership by jumping all over the place. They count on you to be the expert in one tightly focused area, not to inform them of every good product available online. If you want to start promoting products in a different niche as well, create separate affiliate marketing blogs and opt-in lists for each different niche. You know what your affiliate marketing leads are targeted towards, so stick to just that niche every time you contact them.

4) Before promoting any service or product, consider whether it would truly be helpful to the majority of people on your opt-in list. Too often affiliates start basing what they promote on what they can potentially make from that offer instead of what’s best for the prospect. Long term success comes from helping your affiliate marketing leads find the solutions to their problems, not from trying to get them to spend as much as possible.

5) Try to achieve a good price-point balance in your affiliate marketing promotions. Remember that many of the people on your list may not be able to afford products or services costing hundreds of dollars, but also realize that you aren’t going to achieve your dream lifestyle on $2.98 commissions, either. Keep a balanced mix of free, low-end, mid-range and high-ticket products in your affiliate marketing stream to help everyone reach their goals, yourself included.

6) Network heavily, both in person and on the social networking sites. In every industry there’s some truth to the saying that ‘It’s not what you know, it’s who you know’, and affiliate marketing is most definitely an industry where this holds true. From learning new strategies to being amongst the first to hear about new affiliate marketing opportunities and big joint venture launches, having friends in the business is a necessity to be successful in your advanced affiliate marketing activities.

7) Re-invest in your affiliate marketing business. If you’re serious about becoming a super-affiliate you need to operate your affiliate marketing as it’s own business, not just as a hobby or another job. To keep moving forward you’ll need to re-invest a percentage of everything you’re making online. You’ll need various new software programs and memberships, new tools and resources for building your lists, additional hosting for your growing empire, and you’ll need to upgrade your computers every couple of years. Plus, to get known a lot better and meet the people who can help you take your business over the top, you need to attend the live industry events as often as possible and network with the big dogs, plus get into coaching programs or hire a mentor to help you move up faster.

8) And here’s a bonus tip for you… Do a time audit on yourself every so often to see how much time online you’re actually spending building your affiliate marketing business and how much is just time frittered away on other pursuits and interests. If you’re planning on replacing an 8-hour a day job with your own online home business and to make double, triple or ten times what that job paid, you’d better be willing and able to spend a focused 8 hours a day or more on building your affiliate marketing business. After all, if it could be done in just an hour or two a day, why would anyone do anything else for a living?

Beat Other Affiliate Jump Members With Advanced CPA Pages Tactic!

©2009 Doug Champigny. All Rights Reserved.

OK – If you’re a regular reader of this blog, my Internet Training Blog or our e-zines, chances are you’ve already joined the Affiliate Jump CPA Network. By now you should have watched Friday’s video on Creating Affiliate Jump CPA pages, so you know they can be set up in mere seconds, right?

Today I’m going to show you a big-dog trick to beat the other Affiliate Jump memebers, and most other affiliates making money online with CPA ads, by making your CPA pages more attractive to the search engines – and we all know how just a bit of SEO can raise your standings in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs) and what a difference that can make to your targeted traffic flow from the engines!

Affiliate Jump CPA Pages: The SEO Problems

On pretty much any web page that’s auto-generated and hosted for you on the new wave of Web 2.0 affiliate marketing membership services (Affiliate Jump, ClickBank Pirate, etc.), the page is ready for you to promote in seconds – but you don’t have access to the html coding for the page to do your SEO on.

Since you can’t build custom meta tags, add in custom Alt text on photos, use title tags in text links, or even do much with the anchor text on links, the SEO value of the page is the same as anyone else’s – and even lower if you’re not one of the first 5 or 10 copies of that page the search engines find. This is the case for the sample page I showed you in that first video, the Work From Home Opportunities page I built in seconds while making that video.

Now, don’t misunderstand, I still highly recommend the system, and not just because it’s already making me money. These days search engine traffic is taking it’s rightfull place in professional affiliate marketing results: just one more piece of the solution. For all but true newbies, it’s no longer the ‘Holy Grail’ of targeted traffic, however. Why just in the Total Traffic Tips webinar I did with Willie Crawford we discussed 15 different ways to drive targeted traffic using Web 2.0 sites.

So giving up the SEO benefits in exchange for Affiliate Jump’s instant CPA approvals, auto-generated ads, auto-generated CPA offer pages et al is still a great trade-off. Even if you could get accepted into tradional CPA networks, had the copywriting and design skills to put together pages they’d approve of and all the rest, this system does in minutes what it took days or weeks to accomplish on your own – just waiting for approval to start usually took days!

Affiliate Jump CPA Pages: The SEO Solutions

But now what if there was still a way to affect the SEO of your pages – minor tweaks in the areas you DO have access to? After all, it wouldn’t take much to step ahead of the pack if all the rest are the same, right? Well I have a treat for you today – a big-dog method of differentiating your pages, customizing CPA pages for better rankings in the SERPs…

Video: Advanced Customization of Affiliate Jump CPA Pages:

Pretty amazing, eh? How simple it is to add all that search engine spider bait to the page, work in a bit of pre-sell for the visitors to the page, make the offer a natural followup to a content page – and still all done in less than 5 minutes!

Here’s the new Work-at-Home Opportunities Page I created in this video – see the difference? Not tough to see why that bit of effort can have powerful SEO benefits, is it? And that bit of pre-sell leads the prospect to the ads after giving them some solid information first. If you’ve been affiliate marketing for long, you know that effective pre-sell multiplies conversion rates – and this should be no exception.

If you’re already an Affiliate Jump member, take a look in your account and decide what you want to use as your CPA offers, then before you begin, choose or write the copy you want to put above the CPA ads. DON’T make it a pitch – make it good, solid, highly-targeted & helpful information relevant to the prospects’ needs if they’re pursuing information about the CPA ads’ field of coverage. And make sure it’s unique, not unaltered PLR you got somewhere. We’re talking potential long-term SEO benefits here, so put the time in to do it right!

And if you’re not already an Affiliate Jump member, now you’re ready to join armed with knowledge to make the membership that much more advantageous to your affiliate marketing efforts. Don’t let Lady Opportunity dance merrily past you – get your Affiliate Jump membership right now and start applying your newfound big-dog tricks today!

Here’s another advanced Affiliate Marketing Power Tip from Captain Affiliate: There’s a new affiliate marketing tool for ClickBank affiliates that lets you automate your profits and list-building through ClickBank – and automatically increases your affiliate marketing commissions too!

If you’ve been paying attention to the affiliate marketing and joint venture partner contests lately, you know that they’re being won by affiliates and partners who are offering related bonuses, right? But why only use that system for contests – especially if you could use it to make money on every ClickBank promotion in every niche you operate in?

Until now, the hardest part about offering bonuses to ClickBank buyers was that as the affiliate, you don’t get the info on who bought through your link added to your autoresponder, and you had to deliver every bonus manually – either by looking up your sales and e-mailing those people, or by getting your buyers to then e-mail you their receipt so you could send them your bonus – complicated, faulty and a pain, right?

That’s why the Captain was so stoked to see Jeff Czyzewski’s new CB Bonus Domination package – it puts all of that on autopilot for you – delivering the bonus, adding the person to your autoresponder – the whole bit! No more fussing around tying up all your time for one lousy affiliate promotion after another… Now you can be operating – and profiting – in every niche you promote ClickBank products to at the same time – automatically!

Jeff’s put a great video together about his CB Bonus Domination package, so head on over and watch the CB Bonus Domination video right now, ok?

(Smart affiliates will see right away how well this system could utilize our free Daily ClickBank Product Alerts to crush affiliate marketing competition – when the alert shows a new rising star on ClickBank in one of your niches, immediately set up your CB Bonus Domination promotion for it and be making affiliate commissions and building your niche mailing lists before most other ClickBank affiliates even know the product exists! )
