While it is true that it doesn’t have to cost anything to be an affiliate marketer, most successful marketers understand that in order to become successful, they must be willing to purchase the tools that are needed for that success. Don’t be alarmed! Affiliate marketing is the least expensive business you can possibly get into.

There are certain tools that will allow success to come to you a bit easier. The first tool is a domain name. For each niche in which you will market products and services, you need a domain name that relates to that niche. If you are selling cat products, you need a domain name that suits a site about cats. If you are also selling skin care products, you need a domain name that suits skin care information.
You will also need website hosting for each domain name. You can choose to purchase a server that will allow multiple domain names to reside on the same server, which is your cheapest option if you will have a large number of domain names. You can also get webhosting for each individual domain, which may be the least expensive option for fewer domains.
The next most important tool that an affiliate marketer needs is an autoresponder. You need this tool to manage the email list or lists that you will build. It is best to have an autoresponder that will allow you to have multiple lists. There are free autoresponder services available, but you will find that they are not usually worth the price (free), and paying for an autoresponder service is your best bet.
All tolled, your overhead each month should not run over $100, and it should be even less. Domain names are paid for either yearly or every two years. Hosting can be paid for on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis, as can autoresponders. Choose the payment option that saves you the most money, which is usually a yearly payment.
The service that Captain Affiliate uses most, for example, gives you webhosting for up to a dozen sites, unlimited pro autoresponders and even your own affiliate program manager so others can sell your products as affiliates too, all for about $20 a month. Chek out their site if you’re looking for the best hosting for affiliate marketing!

Ah so very true and people may be upset but it is the truth that makes this lesson so valuable. You need quality tools to be an affiliate marketer just as you need some understanding of marketing to be effective.
Always look forward to the quality of information supplied here even when it is what people don’t want to hear.

All very necessary and not too expensive tools. Just think what you would have to spend on a true brick and mortar site. This would not even get you started with that. You are telling people what they ought to know about how easy it can be to get online.

Very true, it’s something that not a lot of beginners want to hear… that it does cost a bit of money.
It’s true that you can start for free, but there are many issues/problems that you can run into if you do that, many which can be solved with very little money.

Doug,
You mean it’s going to COST me something to start in Internet Marketing??
How true your words are. Although it doesn’t cost a whole lot, there are some ’start up’ costs involved.
Great info. Thanks.
Ron

Very true Doug,
The problem is that you can’t blame people for thinking that they can start without any money. There are so many people out there that claim that you can make thousands of dollars overnight while you are asleep, with no website, no domain, no product, no anything.
You make a good point in that, yes, it is going to cost some money. However, you have provided a great resource for someone to use. This hosting plan comes with everything that you need with the exception of the actual domain name, and at only $20/month it can’t be beat!
Thanks,

Well nothing in life is free and although it is going to cost you money to get into affiliate marketing, it would have to be the cheapest business around.
Some good pointers here Doug..
Cheers,

Doug,
You hit the nail on the head and very squarely. Many people new to affiliate marketing just do not understand that the must have these tools.
One of the problems is that you see all the time someone saying “start your business with out having to have a website”. Then they say something like, “promote your new affiliate program with a squeeze page to get people on your list.” They have just told you that you need a web site and an autoresponder.
Good that you made this post to remind people that these essential tools are not too expensive.

While most affiliates starting out might not appreciate it, the availability of an affiliate management system on your recommended hosting service is a valuable asset.

The costs are minor, the real costs is dedicated time and effort. The few bucks it takes for the basics set the stage for building an empire, if one is willing to invest the time and effort to put them together in a meaningful way.
