The Fastest Road To Affiliate Marketing Success – Become A Customer!
Many affiliates don’t pay heed to this, but the fact is and will remain that the easiest way to sell a product or service as an affiliate marketer is to actually use the product or service yourself first. There are many reasons why this is true, and it applies to all areas of Affiliate Marketing.

First, as an affiliate marketer you have hopefully chosen a niche that you have a keen interest in yourself. Otherwise, the chances are very good that you will not be successful in affiliate marketing. If you aren’t passionate about what you are trying to sell, how can you expect your potential customers to be passionate enough to buy the product or service?
Instead, make sure that you are in a niche that is of great interest to you. When you find an affiliate product that helps your problem or fills your own desires regarding this niche, and there is an affiliate program, purchase the product or service and check it out. Then, you can notify your email list that you have personally tried the product or service, and give them an accurate review of it.
By using the product or service yourself, you will also be much more effective in your copywriting. Your ads, your sales letters, your articles, your web content, your blog posts – in fact all of your affiliate marketing promotional materials – all of it will be more effective, because you can hone in on features of the product or service that are the most beneficial, from your personal point of view.
Don’t be afraid to spend money on the products or services you plan to promote as an affiliate. If the product does what it says it will do, and you are an active affiliate marketer – as opposed to one who does little or nothing to promote a product – you will most likely recoup this expense after making a couple of sales.
If the product does not work as promised, simply request a full refund, and don’t promote it to your customer base – or to anyone else. In affiliate marketing, as in any business endeavor, always hold on to your integrity. As you build relationships with your customers, they will depend on your recommendations. Don’t lead them down a path of broken promises – successful affiliate marketing dictates that you must know your affiliate products inside out and backwards!

Absolutely agree about the value of speaking to your list from a perspective of knowledge and understanding.

Truer words were never spoken Doug. I feel so much better about a product if someone I follow is giving a favorable review of it. It makes you feel so much better. It can be hard for some of us sometimes to be able to purchase some of these products. But I agree that it makes it easier to tell your list about if you have knowledge of the product.

Boy do I ever agree with this. I always want to use something and then it becomes very easy to promote it because…
1. I know the product and benefits
2. I can point out the flaws
3. Makes for a very believable and trustworthy review.
Then people will follow your recommendations because you build and kepp the all important trust factor with them.

Great point Doug!
The more you know about the product, the better you can explain it to your visitors. Also, if you are excited about it, that will show through your emails/promos for it and many more people will consider buying the product.

Excellent advice Doug. There is a lot more sincerity in your recommendations when you are recommending a product that you both own and have used.
